Previous buildingSMART events have given an overview of how BIM and IFC could apply to many businesses over the main life-cycle phases. In this presentation our aim is to show how the engineering professions can exploit IFC model based processes. The opportunity arises as we have three special quests from Norway who will be participating in the RAIA National Convention in Melbourne. All three are involved in innovative softare systems based on the IFC protocol, and are active members of buildingSMART Norge.

Bjørn Stangeland is the Managing Director of Data Design Systems ASA, which specialises in building services applications.  Janne Aas-Jakobsen is the Business Manager, Building & Construction for EPM Technology As who offer IFC server solutions. Kjetil Gjesdal is Sales Manager Utilities for Powel Gemini AS who have developed an IFC compliant tool that integrates GIS data with civil works. In addition we are planning to have demonstrations of Tekla and Robobat structural applications that have integrated their structrual analysis tools with IFC models.
