5D cost planning – Sweet and Sour.  Sharon Yap – Altus Group

With experience in QS consultancy and being one of the pioneers in the use of BIM for cost planning, Sharon will present the Sweet and Sour of 5D. Sharon has over 18 years of experience working for quantity surveying consultancy practices, contractors and developers across Asia and Australia. She has significant managerial and technical experience in cost estimating, bill of quantities, change control, value engineering, value management and construction contract administration. Her experience covers a range of clients including healthcare, education, hospitality, commercial and residential property.

5D process Revit – Sketchup – CostX – David Palmer – the estimating department

David is an experienced Estimator/Quantity Surveyor with over 30 years of success providing winning and profitable First Principles Estimates in the highly competitive tender market, as well as Cost Management and Quantity Surveying services.  David will reveal the processes of combining Revit, SketchUp and CostX for cost planning and estimating, exporting IFC and DWFx versions from Revit into CostX for 5D BIM.

40min Hands-on Lab – Revit Scheduling LAB – Phil Davies – Project BIM Manager – HASSELL

Revit Scheduling LAB – Room 3.01

This lab session will cover the scheduling of elements from within the Revit model.

We’ll take a look at the basics concept of creating schedule types before moving on to the more advanced aspects of scheduling including the use of filters, calculating and displaying totals and configuring the format and appearance of the resulting schedule data.

Phil Davies has over 20 years’ experience working with design technology solutions in the design and delivery of projects within the AEC industry. This knowledge has primarily been gained from over 10 years as an Autodesk Revit Applications Engineer, and 9 years performing BIM management roles within large multinational architectural practices since emigrating to Perth from the UK in 2008.
