Greetings,
The buildingSMART Annual General Meeting is taking place next Tuesday,
27 November. It will be a teleconference from three locations
indicated below. The time will be 4.30 pm in Sydney and Melbourne,
and 3.30 pm in Brisbane. If you can not attend those locations,
but wish to participate, please send me an email and I will attempt to
make arrangements for you to connect with the meeting.
This has been a very busy year for buildingSMART. With the active
participation and support of Project Services - Queensland Department
of Public Works, the Royal Australian Institute of Architects, the
Building Commission of Victoria, and the CRC for Construction
Innovation, and many others, we have significantly increased the
programs we are promoting and our outreach activities. We provided an
important BIM stream for the National Conference of the RAIA in
Melbourne in May, and last week we hosted an International Forum for
the IAI in Brisbane, which included a number of outreach activities.
Internationally, buildingSMART chapters agreed to lift funding for our
International activities by approximately a factor of 10.
We also agreed to aggressively promote development of IFC capabilities
for Australian and New Zealand software in the environmental area.
This initiative was promoted Internationally by this chapter, and we
will be preparing a template for use by other Chapters to promote this
agenda. BuildingSMART has also become a member of the Australian
Sustainable Built Environment Council, and we are working to promote
more sustainable outcomes in our industry. With the dramatic increase
in interest and use of our standards, pressure is mounting rapidly to
assist software vendors and users in supporting software development
and project teams.
Only financial members have voting rights at this meeting. If you wish
to join, please see our web
site for details. (www.buildingsmart.com.au)
