Critical Visions 08

— filed under:

The 2008 RAIA National Architecture Conference, Critical Visions, will be held in Sydney in April, and has something for everyone interested in the built environment.

The 2008 RAIA National Architecture Conference, Critical Visions, is proving to be enormously popular with architects from both across Australia and overseas. With less than 200 tickets remaining, the conference is expected to sell out, so I urge you to register soon to avoid disappointment.

In keeping delegates busy, there will be plenty of activities around the conference. Delegates can register for the Opening Party on Thursday 10 April at the Museum of Contemporary Art and Sydney Architectural Tours. On Friday 10 and Saturday 11 April, the CV08 Bar at the Arthouse Hotel on Pitt Street will be the place to catch up with fellow Critical Visions participants. Also, the designEX and Form & Function tradeshows will be co-located with the conference.

Running in conjunction with the conference will be the Sydney Future Visions public exhibition at Customs House. This exciting initiative by our creative director, Richard Francis-Jones, will present ‘visions’ of Sydney’s future by six teams of young emerging architects. Taking conference issues to the mainstream community, the exhibition is certain to provoke public debate in how architecture might respond to the critical global challenges of climate change, intense urbanisation and social inequity.

The Sydney Future Visions public exhibition opens at Customs House, Circular Quay, on March 19 until April 13. The six visions will also be critiqued at two Critical Visions jury sessions on Saturday April 12.
