buildingSMART Australasia is an open,
membership-by-subscription body that promotes the development and use
of applications which enable the exchange and sharing of information so
as to improve the efficiency and quality of building design,
construction, operation and maintenance.
buildingSMART defines, publishes and
promotes Industry Foundation Classes (IFCs) which form the common
language of a new interoperable infrastructure, which is a basis for
sharing information throughout the building and construction project
life cycle, across disciplines and technical applications.
BuildingSMART, the
IAI Australasia Chapter, Inc. started in September 1997, in Australia,
is an alliance of industry practitioners, building product suppliers,
client organisations and software vendors.
- Clients, Building Owners and Operators –
do you want better value buildings, which are designed and constructed
faster, are more efficient to operate and easier to maintain and
service?
- Architects, Building Designers and Contractors
– could you benefit from new breed, expert, design software tailored
for your business, allowing collaborative project work and more
efficient design and documentation?
- Building Industry Suppliers
– will architects, designers and builders incorporate electronic
definitions and specifications for your products in their construction
documents?
- Software Vendors and Developers – do you need
advanced knowledge of interoperable developments so that your
organisation becomes a forerunner in the delivery of interoperable
applications?
- Telecommunication and Network Service Providers
– could your business provide a framework for the development of an
Electronic Commerce / Business infrastructure as the construction
industry enters the Information Superhighway age with collaborative
work practices?
Interoperability enables a coordinated
approach to project delivery and facilities management. Your company
can take part and benefit.
Why Join now – not Later?
Commercial
implementation is approaching fast. Companies with advanced knowledge
of how interoperability works will be up to speed from the start.
Companies who delay will be slow off the blocks when implementation
starts and see competitors moving ahead of them. BuildingSMART members can
prepare themselves and their supply chain now for a radical new IT
future.
buildingSMART is the trigger for growth and innovation in process and delivery
