New IFC2x3 1st Step and 2nd Step Certifications
Rasso Steinmann, IAI-International Implementer Support Group (ISG) Coordinator announced today, 19th March 2007: "With the following announcement I want to inform you about the latest IFC-software-implementation news and I want to congratulate the software implementers on this important step forward. On March 12 and 13, a group of implementers had a very successful certification workshop in Waltham/Boston (USA)".
IFC2x3 Certifications based on the Coordination View Definition
Rasso continues:"The workshop for 1st Step Certification was held on 12th March 2007 and DDS DDS-CAD and Progman MagiCAD, both CAD-applications for building services, successfully passed. The detected issues are documented and will be retested during the next workshop.
At the same time also SCIA.ESA PT (structural analysis) and VectorWorks (CAD for architects), both applications from the Nemetschek Group, had been tested and showed very good progress since the last workshop. Therefore it is likely, that they will pass 1st Step Certification soon.
The workshop for 2nd Step Certification was held on 13th March 2007 and the participating applications performed much better than anticipated. The vendors proved what the certification specification requires: they are able to implement high quality IFC-interfaces and have a process established that enables them to fix bugs in a short time frame.
Therefore the following applications passed the certification under the condition, that the detected and documented issues will be resolved until the next clean-up-workshop in Helsinki, in May 2007.
- Archimem Group Active3D
- Autodesk AutoCAD Architecture & Revit Architecture
- Bentley Bentley Architecture
- DDS DDS-CAD Building Services
- Nemetschek Group Nemetschek Allplan & Graphisoft ArchiCAD
- TEKLA Tekla Structures
- Solibri Solibri Model Checker
"At the same time also Vizelia proved, that they have reached the required maturity for the 2nd Step, but due to travelling schedules they had to postpone the 1st Step Certification to the next workshop and therefore could not pass the 2nd Step".
The IAI-AC will be contacting all local distributors of these products to build links to their compliant IFC products, user guides and support services in Australia.
Note that under the terms of the IFC certification all IFC products must be independently tested- for example the suite of related products from several of the international CAD vendors covering architecture, building services or structure, must each be tested. See the IAI-ISG certification guideline.
